8-week Mindfulness Meditation MBCT course in Bath & Bristol
The Mindfulness Meditation Based Cognitive Therapy Course for the prevention of persistent unhappiness, depression, anxiety, stress and to promote a more enjoyable life. The basis of this 8-week course has been running for over 30 years in American hospitals for the treatment and prevention of stress, pain and anxiety. It has proven itself to be highly effective. A few years ago the course was further developed in the UK to prevent relapse into depression. Impressive results from studies have gained the course the approval of NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence). The course involves meditation practices and exercises which bring about greater awareness of our unhelpful automatic negative ways of thinking and reacting to life’s problems. Through enhanced awareness we begin to see the signs of potential crisis, upset and unhappiness much sooner than we normally would. Mindfulness meditation enables us to respond in a calmer, clear headed way that often leads to less of the above problems. The majority of people completing the course report lasting physical and psychological benefits including: An increased ability to relax and experience calm • Greater energy, enthusiasm and appreciation for life • Heightened self confidence and more acceptance for life as it is • An increase ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term stressful situations The aim of this course is to learn new ways to handle challenging physical sensations, emotions, moods or social interactions. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any further questions. There is no charge for this meeting. Course costs The total cost of the programme is £ 210. This includes: Initial, individual session with me to orientate you to the course 8 x 2 hour weekly session. Teacher support between sessions A day retreat on the 6th week of the course Course notes and CDs Networking information for follow up events and local groups Some concessions are available.
